The Zoo Troop

9th April 2008

The Zoo Troop

New Zoo Troop Rescue Show

Haven Holidays produces cartoon eco-message for kids

Zoo Troop is an exciting new concept to be rolled out to all 35 Haven Holiday parks this year, raising eco-awareness and putting care for wildlife and the environment on the agenda with young holidaymakers.

Going green has become a priority with Haven.  All our parks hold Conservation Awards and they encourage recycling and energy saving amongst Team Members, holidaymakers and holiday home owners.

The Cartoons

Rory reporting for the Zoo Troop TV show

The Zoo Troop gives a new role to Rory the Tiger, Bradley Bear and the other hugely popular characters that entertain youngsters on Haven Holiday parks every night.  The larger than life characters have an all-embracing Disney-esque role on the parks with inter-active shows, songs, dancing and meet and greet parades.

Now Bradley Bear has been re-invented as a TV mogul with his own channel broadcasting directly to animals in the zoo.  And Rory the Tiger is a roving reporter with a team that helps animals across the world.

The concept has been broadened from a professionally produced stage-show to include Haven’s first ever animated cartoon featuring the Zoo Troop and their eco-message.

Producer Simon Daniels says, ‘We wanted to encourage kids to think about wildlife and the environment.  The cartoons are a way of conveying messages about looking after the world and also about looking after themselves – the characters promote the idea of eating well and keeping fit,  giving positive messages to young viewers.

A line of Zoo Troop merchandise has also been developed which will be directly supporting the Zoological Society of London.

"It's important to us that the Zoo Troop actually do fund animal conservation", continued Simon.  "The link with the ZSL reinforces our commitment to the support wildlife and will help children to recognise that this is not just a cartoon – it's a very real issue."

The ZSL say,  "We are very excited by our association with Haven Holidays and their fun and exciting new Zoo Troop merchandise range.  As an animal conservation charity we rely on external support to help fund the important work that we do and hope this is the start of a long and successful partnership.
